Doctor en Ciencias de la Computación y Profesor-Investigador de Tiempo Completo en la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC). Actualmente coordina el programa de Ingeniería de Software y Tecnologías Emergentes. Sus líneas de investigación incluyen inteligencia artificial, sistemas inteligentes, sistemas embebidos, computación bioinspirada e ingeniería de software. Es miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNII) Nivel I y participa activamente en proyectos de investigación, vinculación con la industria y formación de recursos humanos de licenciatura y posgrado.
